Our Purpose

Treehouse Learning Community creates a place where homeschoolers can find warm community, build lasting friendships, and develop skills for working in groups. We believe in a developmentally appropriate pedagogy, allowing for child-centered and playful learning in younger years, and introducing more academic rigor as children become ready.

Class size is kept intentionally small, with no more than 10 students per teacher. Lessons are meant to enrich (not replace) the core learning students receive at home. In our youngest groups, we incorporate basic math and language arts concepts with movement, storytelling, singing, rhythm, art, and cooperative games. We strengthen our minds through handwork, fiber arts, modeling, and form drawing. We build community with cooperative games and practice working together cooperatively on chosen projects. Our middle and older age groups also focus on community and cooperative work and play but delve more deeply each year into interesting areas of study like mythology, creative writing, art, geography and culture, and hands-on science.

In all things we do, we hope to nurture a love for learning as well as a sense of service to others - using what we learn for good in the world. We are an inclusive community, with generosity of thought toward different faith backgrounds. We believe we all benefit when we see the beauty and goodness in one another.
